Portuguese equal to English

Guys, have you ever watched a movie or series in English and noticed that there are some words that are similar in Portuguese and English and have the same meaning? This is an interesting phenomenon calling cognates that has to do with the history of the original formation of languages, as most came from the Latin and Roman languages, and although they are different languages, many times, similar words in English actually mean the same thing. that look like in Portuguese, like:

music: music

reaction: reaction

different: different

Buuuuuut now comes the catch: the big issue is always the false cognates, affectionately nicknamed “false friends”. They are nothing more than words in English that are similar to Portuguese, but that mean something completely different.

Example:

college

Principal – Principal (of a school, college)

Push – Push

Journal – Diary

But how not to fall into the deception of a false cognate?

There's no way: you need to strengthen your vocabulary!

And as time goes by, our vocabulary will become so rich that we will be without a doubt!
