Japanese cuisine tip widely consumed in summer
そうめん
A simple, cheap and tasty dish for those days when you don't have much of an appetite on hot days. These noodles are usually eaten cold with a light sauce called MEN TSUYU.
MEN: Noodle
TYUYU: Name given to the sauce.
The cooking type varies from 2~3 minutes.
Once cooked, drain, wash in very cold water and refrigerate until slightly chilled.
The sauce comes in two versions: those that do not need to be diluted in water and those that do.
If you want something a little more flavorful and with more protein, you can cook chicken sasami, canned tsuna, and add vegetables to taste.
The Japanese have the habit of adding negui (scallions), wasabi, grated or tubed shoga (ginger) and/or myoga as a side dish. A dish that is enjoyed with summer vegetables.
The sauce has many uses outside of soumen. It can be used to make stew, udon, and many other dishes.
